Hibernate From Divorce Over Christmas

Unless it’s a genuine emergency, give yourselves a break from lawyers, divorce and everything that goes with it.

You can pick up in January feeling refreshed.  Just enjoy this time to eat mince pies and switch off! Most family lawyers have quiet in-trays over the Christmas period.

So why not make a conscious decision to park your divorce for a couple of weeks? Agree that both of you (and your lawyers if you have them) will leave the to-do list until January and just give yourselves a couple of weeks to enjoy Christmas.

We take our own advice, and close our offices between Christmas and New Year. Because all of our couples are working together, it’s easy to agree to a break. But even if you’re in an adversarial process, unless you have a court hearing over the Christmas period (which is very rare) you can both still decide to have a short break and disengage from the litigation. You may find it gives you a fresh perspective, and if nothing else it will ensure legal proceedings aren’t intruding on precious family time.
