What About Parental Responsibility And Does It Matter?

Parental responsibility is a legal term which underpins many aspects of family law, but is an expression which many parents have never come across before.

Understanding what parental responsibility is, and whether you have it, is an important first step in understanding the legal framework which applies to your family, and will also help inform you and your fellow parent about how you should be co-parenting: the issues you should be consulting each other about, and those you can act on alone.

In this course we will provide you with an understanding of the term “parental responsibility”, what it means, how it can be obtained (if you don’t already have it) and why it is so important. We will set out examples of real life case law so you can see the reasoning which has been applied to other families.

When it comes to co-parenting, often the best way to avoid court proceedings is to have an understanding of what parental responsibility is and how the courts expect you to co-parent, which you can then use as a tool to help navigate difficult decisions and find a way through.

This course remains live for 90 days from purchase, but we’ve included course materials with the full text of the course and links to all the case law, research and statutes, which you can download and keep after the course itself has expired.
