What About Moving With Our Child (Abroad Or Within The UK)?

Divorce is a huge life change, and is often the catalyst to re-evaluate every aspect of your life, including where you want to live.

But if you have children, a decision to move can have a significant impact on the amount of time they can spend with the other parent, particularly if you want to move abroad or to the other side of the UK.

These are tough situations, and this is a specialist area of family law. Judges have developed legal principles and guidance to help them make the best decisions they can for the children involved.

The aim of this course is to help you understand the law which applies to relocation (whether the move is within the UK or abroad), how judges make relocation decisions, together with examples of real life case law so you can see the reasoning which has been applied to other families.

We also cover the situation where parents can’t agree about a foreign holiday, as different case law applies for temporary, rather than permanent, relocations.

When it comes to reaching long term agreements about where your children should be based, often the best way to avoid drawn out and highly contentious court proceedings is to have an understanding of what a judge would do, that you can then use to reach a bespoke agreement which works for you both and your children.

This course remains live for 90 days from purchase, but we’ve included course materials with the full text of the course and links to all the case law, research and statutes, which you can download and keep after the course itself has expired.
