WE DON’T TAKE SIDES

RESOLVING YOUR FINANCES

When it comes to your finances, you will need to reach an agreement which a Judge considers fair. So the sooner you both know what a Court would do, the better. Here is our process:

INTRODUCTORY SESSIONS

These are held with each of you separately. We will ask you each to complete a detailed questionnaire. The Introductory Sessions are an opportunity for us to identify the key issues in your particular situation, talk you through the legal process and ensure that you are suitable, should you both decide you would like to proceed.

Following the Introductory Sessions, we will send you both a quote for the full service, which may include a Disclosure Session as well as an Advice Session if required.

DISCLOSURE SESSION

After the Introductory Sessions we identify the issues in your case and the information we require to advise you. Where outside expert assistance is needed, e.g. for tax or pension issues, we will highlight those.

When you have both completed the disclosure process, we assist you both in ensuring it is comprehensive and sufficient for detailed advice to be provided. For most cases we also arrange a Disclosure Session, so your advising barrister can analyse your disclosure with you.

ADVICE SESSION

You will meet the barrister, together, for an in-depth and tailored analysis of your case. This will last around two hours, on a date convenient to you. You will both be given specialist legal advice as to the range of options and identify the bracket of outcomes a court would be likely to consider fair.

Following the session you will each receive the barrister’s detailed advice in writing, and in a financial case, also an asset schedule. When you reach an agreement, we can convert it into a Court Order.

FEES

We only do fixed fees. We’ll quote for the full service before you commit.

Our starting fee is £5,700 per couple.

We help couples with very different financial circumstances, meaning the level of expertise they need varies widely. So it’s hard to give an average fee, but to give you some idea, unless your case requires a very senior barrister you’re looking at a total fee of £10,000 to £20,000 per couple.
