The Divorce Surgery can provide expert advice on the legal implications of a relationship breakdown, whether you are married or not. We hope to give every separating couple the legal answers they need to move forward with the least conflict.

Below are examples of some of the areas of family law within our expert remit:

We advise married couples, civil partners, cohabiting couples, co-parents and couples who are already divorced.

Advice is provided on the financial consequences of divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships or separation of a couple who are cohabiting.

For co-parents, we advise on financial claims in respect of children (known as Schedule One claims).

We can provide advice to divorced couples where one or both of them are seeking to vary a maintenance order, or capitalise maintenance whether by way of lump sum payment or pension share.

We advise on arrangements for children when their parents separate, including where they should live and what time they should spend with each parent (formerly known as residence and contact or custody arrangements).

Schooling choices can be fraught with difficulty. We advise parents on how a court would assess which school is in their child’s best interests.

When couples split up one repercussion might be that one or both seek to relocate with their children, either within the UK or abroad. We can advise couples as to the likely approach of the courts in these often very difficult applications.
